All Rounders: A Modern Refresh for a Classic Confectionery Range
Golden Casket is a renowned name in the world of confectionery, celebrated for delivering high-quality, nostalgic treats to sweet lovers across Scotland and England. Their One Pounders range, a staple since 1990, needed a fresh update to appeal to new consumers while staying true to its iconic heritage. That’s where we came in. We partnered with Golden Casket to give this beloved product line a complete brand refresh, while preserving the classic charm that long-time fans know and love.
Breathing New Life into a Beloved Brand
The heart of this project was to update the confectionery packaging design in a way that felt both contemporary and familiar. Our team began by reimagining the brand identity, centring it around the distinctive oval shape with new modernised custom lettering. The emblem captures the essence of the original 1990’s One Pounders branding while introducing a fresh, modern style. To highlight the variety of flavours in the range, we introduced bursts of vibrant colour splashes around the pack—these elements are eye-catching and symbolise the huge amount of variety in the range, with more than 50+ different confectionery products that make up the One Pounders line.
Our approach embraced modern sweet packaging concepts that balanced nostalgia with innovation, ensuring the design resonated with existing fans while attracting a new generation of sweet enthusiasts.
Overcoming Challenges with a Cohesive Packaging Strategy
The biggest challenge was to create a design that would keep production costs low without compromising on the variety and appeal of the product range. The solution was a thoughtful innovative sweet packaging concept: we developed four unique pack designs, each using strong category colours to distinguish the different types of confectionery. This not only streamlined production but also provided enough visual variety to make the range stand out on shelves.
Our creative approach delivered a personalised candy packaging experience that maintained the familiar elements of the classic brand while injecting fresh, playful energy into the new One Pounders brand. The result is a range that feels both modern and true to its roots, delighting consumers with its colourful, exciting presentation.
Since the redesign we have also helped develop the range into All Rounders. With raw ingredient cost increases and inflation moving the price point beyond £1, the new range maintains the consistency of the familiar design, and puts the brand into a strong position for whatever the future holds.
