This structure keeps every project focused, flexible and built around exactly what your brand needs — no inflated teams, no unnecessary layers, just the right people doing the right work.

Paul Goulding

Founder & Director

Paul is the founder of Goulding Media, bringing over 20 years of experience across consumer brand, packaging and print production. He began his career in 2004 at Schawk (now SGK), working on global packaging accounts for brands including Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson and Wyeth. His background spans design, reprographics and hands-on print production, giving him rare end-to-end knowledge of how packaging performs from concept through to shelf.

Paul’s focus has always been on results, not awards. He prioritises client outcomes above everything else, often going beyond scope to ensure projects reach long-term brand success. Outside work, Paul spends time with family & friends, still plays football competitively and follows Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Danu Hew

Studio Manager & Business Partner

Danu is the Studio Director and Business Partner at Goulding Media, bringing years of experience in studio management, business operations and creative delivery. He plays a central role in overseeing projects, supporting brand and packaging development, and ensuring the day-to-day running of the studio remains smooth and reliable. His background in business ownership and technical operations, including web development, servers and hosting, gives the company a strong and stable foundation.

Danu is known for his work ethic and problem-solving mindset, consistently stepping in when deadlines are tight and solutions are needed. He is a trusted presence for both clients and the team. Outside work, Danu is also an accomplished musician with a growing following, releasing original music alongside his role at the agency.

The moment that changed everything...

An expensive problem to avoid

In 2010, I was standing on a print shop floor when a major product launch started to fall apart. The design looked great on screen, but on press, it was a disaster. The client had put their trust in a design agency with little packaging experience.

I’d warned them weeks before — but it was the same story:
“Leave the files alone.”
“The designer will answer any questions.”
“They know best.”

Except the designer didn’t know at all. The client, juggling production deadlines and retailer demands, had trusted a polished design agency who convinced them they could extend beyond marketing and into packaging.

Now I was the one explaining to an already stressed client that the very problem I’d raised was reality. Now they were looking at a choice between a costly reprint, or accepting below par packaging for a new launch.

By this time, I had already spent a decade at SGK, a global packaging agency. In the early days I was working on the world’s largest brands and later I was managing national packaging suppliers. It was here where I kept seeing the same reoccurring problem — designers creating files without a full understanding of how packaging works in production.

Designers don’t want to admit when they are wrong, so they ignore or deflect when I challenged their work, but this is no good for the client.

That’s when everything changed

Instead of just pointing out problems, I found ways to solve them.
Instead of waiting for things to go wrong, I stepped in early, with clear choices for the client. Doing nothing was no longer an option.

It worked. The results were fantastic and the clients were happy.
But my management role with packaging suppliers did not include creative capacity. Instead I worked during evenings and weekends on the more complex projects, to help clients overcome design issues.

During 2012, the increasing number of requests for help became Goulding Media. A dedicated service to help clients get exceptional results from their expensive packaging investments.

Since then, we’ve grown into a small team who have supported over 50 brands across 5,000+ brand refreshes, new product launches and marketing campaigns — helping products earn their place on shelf and perform where it matters most.

Goulding Media exists for one reason:

Since those early days we have continued to build a strong reputation in the packaging industry and Goulding Media has grown project by project, recommendation by recommendation.

Since 2012 we’ve completed more than 5,000 projects, including brand refreshes, packaging launches and marketing campaigns — helping everything from ambitious challenger brands to established household names strengthen their presence and secure new retail listings.
